Fisherman is one of the many role-playing subclasses in Elder Tale.[1]

Overview[]

As the title suggests, a Fisherman's main job is to catch fish, shellfish or miscellaneous marine creatures for food, making it a primary Production subclass but ultimately a Role-playing one due being able to do more than crafting. He is basically like the Hunter, but uses more passive means for catching his prey, such as using fishing rods, lures and nets.

Contrary to what what people could expect, fishing near a water body is an action that can be done by anyone regardless of their subclass, but Fishermen gain bonuses such as faster catches, bigger or rarer fishes. It's also a subclass suitable for working in the sea, with effects like reduced penalties when being underwater and increased amount of time you can spend submerged. There is also a Slayer subclass-like effect when engaging aquatic monsters, for both battle and drops.

It is a popular subclass that was implemented during the 2003 expansion pack, Silver Odyssey, when water travel and oceans became available. In seaside towns, players can receive special quests. However some can make you change their subclass from Fisherman to Pirate depending on some (sometimes unintentional) actions and choices. Adventurers can change subclass immediately by completing some simple subclass-changing quests such as catching a certain amount of fish and deliver it to NPCs, quests you usually receive in seaside towns.

It's a subclass that can be found among Earthlings if you go by the seaside or near a large river, in the same manner as Hunters.

Fisherman Skills[]

The skills of the Fishman may include the following :

  • Baiting hooks
