Monk is one of the twelve classes in Elder Tale, and one of the three Warrior classes.

It has two localized versions: the Capoerista on the South/Central American server and the Pesilat on the Southeast Asian server.

Summary

Of the twelve classes, the Monk has the highest HP stats but is limited to equipping light armor and incapable of using shields. It also has lower defense stats compared to weapon-based classes. To compensate for this, the class has a high evasion rate and the greatest resistance to special attacks. This allows the Monk to function as an evasion-type tank.

In contrast to the Samurai class, most of the skills that can be acquired by the Monk class have very short cooldowns, allowing them to attack continuously by using a variety of offensive techniques. Some combinations give special bonuses or trigger additional combos if performed in a predetermined order. Therefore, the Monk class has the highest and most diverse offensive ability of the three warrior classes, making this class popular amongst solo players in Elder Tale.

Sample Builds

There are two main builds for the Monk.

Kung Fu Monk

Based off of a standard grappling fighting style.

Kicker

A attack and move fighting style. This is certainly not a bad build, but personality-wise cannot sit at the center of battle (does not have the last-second improvisation to join allies). Because of that flaw, Kickers are hard to use in parties.

Demiqas uses this build. However, he also uses orthodox fighting techniques, so he is not a pure Kicker and is instead considered a hybrid. Lelia is a straighter example of this build.

The calculations for this table are based on level and the average gear for that level. However, this table does not account for racial and sometimes subclass abilities.

For a more accurate representation of a character's values based on the quality of their equipment, the following multipliers are a good rule of thumb:

• Solo player without good equipment: 96% of their level average
• Average adventurer in an ordinary guild: 100%
• Adventurer in a wealthy and decently-skilled guild: 106%
• Adventurer in a raiding guild: 116%
• Adventurer in a top guild: 125%
