Silver Sword is a raiding guild in Elder Tale led by "Mithril Eyes" William Massachusetts.

At the time of the Catastrophe, was one of the Five Great Battle Guilds of Akiba, and the newest-established of them. Due to their influence in the city, Silver Sword was invited to the Round Table Alliance, but William declined to join.

After the establishment of the Round Table, Silver Sword moves to Susukino, freeing the city from Brigandia's tyranny and defending the city from Giants. Despite getting off to a rocky start with the Round Table, Silver Sword later proves an invaluable ally.

Overview[]

Silver Sword makes decisions based on the consensus of its members, but it's no secret that William, Dinclon, Prometheus, and Ukiyo are the guild's driving forces. If likened to a car, William steps on the acceleration, Prometheus steers, Ukiyo brakes, and Dinclon is the bumper in case they crash into something.[3]

The guild's unity and tight-knight bond is its greatest strength. Even after most of the guild quit raiding, they still stuck together, and William is able to rally his guild mates after their miserable defeat at Abyssal Shaft.

The guild enjoys immense popularity with the People of the Earth in the Ezzo Empire, who see them as "the guild that came all the way to this deserted land to drive off the powerful enemies of mankind."[4]

Guild Hall[]

In Susukino, Silver Sword's guild hall is not located in the Guild Center but is instead in a tavern that they bought and now own. The tavern employs Earthlings, and Shiroe notes that none of the employees fear Demiqas and simply find his sudden intrusion bothersome—a distinct difference from when Shiroe last visited the city.

Synopsis[]

Before the Catastrophe[]

Around the time William started playing Elder Tale, the Debauchery Tea Party was at the height of its fame. Hoping to join the legendary party one day, William threw himself into getting stronger. However, the Tea Party abruptly disbanded before he had a chance to join, greatly upsetting the young player.

Seeking to reach its heights, William decided to establish a guild of his own. Around that time, he met Dinclon, a wandering solo Guardian, and Prometheus. The two became the first members of his guild.[5]

Round Table Alliance arc[]

After William decided to leave Akiba, Prometheus—sensing trouble in Westelande—advised William to head up towards the Ezzo Empire instead, which has traditionally been rather separated from politics in Eastal and Westelande.[3] The guild journeyed north and, after passing through Depths of Palm much like Shiroe and his companions did in the past, fell upon Susukino.

When Brigandia attempted to throw their weight around, Silver Sword did not take kindly and quickly made short work of the guild. In particular, William defeated Demiqas in a one-on-one match, solidifying Brigandia's fall.

The guild makes the city its base of operations and, unlike Brigandia before it, defers from ruling it in any heavy-handed manner.

Gold of the Kunie arc[]

After failing to negotiate with Kinjo, Shiroe and Naotsugu request Silver Sword's assistance in clearing the Abyssal Shaft raid. By this time, however, all but twenty members of the guild had quit raiding; only by recruiting Tetora and Demiqas are they able to meet the dungeon's requirement.

Collapse of the Round Table arc[]

On the day of the Akiba General Election, just before Raynesia makes her candidate speech, William brings many Silver Sword members and Susukino Earthlings through the now-functional Intercity Transport Gate. Afterwards, Silver Sword joins as a member of the New Round Table Council.

Akiba Guild Hall Raid arc[]

When Eirenus pulls all of Akiba's Adventurers into a raid zone based on the city and abuses the Teacher System to cripple high-level players, several members of Silver Sword who are in Akiba at the time find themselves desperately fighting for their lives.

Trivia[]

  • The Abyssal Shaft Raid Party was supposed to have illustrations and descriptions in the appendix of The Gold of the Kunie, but the editor forgot about them and thus they were never added in the volume. To amend that, Mamare put the sketches and information on his website.
